For the first eight innings Friday night, the Blytheville Century 21 McWaters/ANC Casons either led or were tied with the Jonesboro Ricemen. But with the scored tied, 7-7, in the ninth, the Ricemen scored two and escaped with a 9-7 win.

Mickey Prewett Allen, 37, of Blytheville, went to be with the Lord Friday, July 19, 2013, after a long battle with cancer.

Members from the American Legion Post 24 and others honored the American Legion Law Officer of the Year Friday.

A Blytheville man was sentenced with a hefty fine after pleading guilty to theft from a local bank, but he will avoid any jail time.

A candlelight vigil was held Friday evening at Walker Park in honor of Patrick Dewayne Newbern III. Newbern, only 2, died July 14 as the result of a swimming pool accident.
