Ernest “Dud” Brucks Sr.
Ernest “Dud” Brucks Sr., of Blytheville, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 at Great River Medical Center.
Ernest was born in Princeton, Ind., to Ernest C. And Bessie Marie Moore Brucks. He joined the United States Air Force in 1965 and was stationed at Blytheville Air Force Base, not knowing this would become his home. On his discharge day, Ernest walked to a nearby gas station to buy a soda and was offered a management position on the spot. He used his military savings to purchase the gas station. Shortly after he would build Gosnell’s very first car wash “Get Your Suds at Dud’s”. He was also the owner of Brucks Rentals. Ernest enjoyed going to auctions, real estate sales, and spending time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Brucks; two brothers; and one sister.
Ernest is survived by three children, Ernest “Jimmy” Brucks Jr., Belinda Brucks and Cecilia Tucker, and husband Garrett; five grandchildren, Samantha Hefner, Ashley VanDorn, Leslie Evans, Alyssa VanDorn and Boyd Tucker; and seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Connor, Logan, Aliyah, Lucas, Abby and Raelynn.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Billy Holifield officiating. Entombment will follow in Dogwood Mausoleum.
