Eddie Charles Thornton
Eddie Charles Thornton, 69, of Blytheville, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born Aug. 19, 1955, in Portageville, Mo., he was the son of the late Jonas Thornton and Idell Lewis.
Eddie dedicated his career to the Missouri Road Department until his retirement. He was a devoted member of the Tabernacle COGIC Church in Blytheville, where he found a spiritual home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings: five brothers, Eugene Thornton, Lawrence Thornton, Bobby Thornton, Jonas Thornton Jr. and Tim Thornton, and five sisters, Aretha Thornton, Marie Thornton, Dolly Thornton, Margaret Thornton and Victoria Clark.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Retha Thornton of Blytheville; three sons, Eddie Thornton Jr. of Blytheville, Maurice “Mollen” Gross of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Steve “Alicia” Patton, of Elgin, Ill.; three daughters, Sharniece Brown, Patricia Brown and Tomiesha Brown; one sister, Louise “Willie” Davis of Georgia; and eight cherished grandchildren.
In honor of Eddie Thornton, a visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Tabernacle COGIC Church from 9-10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at the Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Burdette. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville.
