East Poinsett County (EPC) (3-2, 2-0) will host Cross County (3-2, 1-1) in a 2A-3 conference clash this Friday at Warrior Field in Lepanto. The Warriors are coming off a 22-12 win over McCrory as the Thunderbirds are coming off a 46-6 win over ICC. EPC beat Cross County 36-8 last season at Cross County. The Warriors started the season 0-2 but have won three straight games.
Eli Blagg has taken over at quarterback for EPC. Blagg completed eight of 14 pass for 75 yards and a touchdown this past Friday. Tyrus Reel caught three passes for 35 yards and touchdown as Jacob Gaines finished with 20 carries for 136 yards and two touchdowns. The Warriors come in averaging 28 points a game.
EPC’s defense is led by their defensive linemen that include Doug Reel, Hunter Thrasher, Eli Blagg and Bari Shephard. Linebackers Dee Buchanan, Ashton Reel and Jacob Gaines are tough against the running game. Tyrus Reel and Quincy Perry are good against the run and pass in the secondary. The Warriors are allowing 24 points a game this season.
Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at Warrior Field.
