Rev. Dr. James Banks, 71, of Jacksonville received his heavenly wings Sept. 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Alberta Banks; son, Rodney Banks; sisters, Bobbie Banks and Carolyn “CB” Arnold; and nephew, Leander Bobo. Rev. Dr. Banks was an ordained minister, published author and dedicated educator at the Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock for over 30 years. He was the founder of “The First”, an initiative honoring students first in the family to attend college. Rev. Dr. Banks, dedicated his life’s work to helping others succeed.

He leaves loving memories to children, James Banks (Tracy), Jeff Banks (Janay), and Dr. Lashun Bland; siblings, Lawrence Banks, Hubert Banks, Tommy Lee Banks, Joyce Banks and Mary Banks.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Family hour will be Oct. 9 from 6-7 p.m. at Superior Funeral Services. Homegoing celebration will be Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, 1723 W. 44th Street, North Little Rock, followed by full military honors at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Ave., North Little Rock.
