Bertha Mae Echols, 85, passed away Aug. 8, 2024, at Poplar Bluff, Mo. She was born in Nodeana on May 11, 1939, to the late Lorn Echols and Creasie Wallace Echols. Bertha was first married to the late John Wesley Franklin, then in later years married the late Rev JD Echols and worked as a housekeeper. She was a devoted member to the True Gospel MB Church.
In addition to her parents, Lorn and Creasie Echols, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Wesley Franklin and Rev JD Echols; her siblings, Rev. Lawrence Echols, Rev. Lee Echols, Lee Ray Echols, Elijah Wallace, Willie B. Echols, Jessie Echols, Charlie Echols, JD Echols, Eddie Echols and Lillie Yarbrough.
Bertha leaves to cherish her memory her children, Rev. Eddie (Cindie) Echols and JoAnn Partee, both of Blytheville; one sister, Izella Moore of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services for Bertha Echols will be held at the New Mt. Olive Church in Blytheville on Saturday, Aug. 17, with the visitation from 9-10 a.m. and the funeral to follow at 10 a.m. Rev. Carl Rogers will be officiating. Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville will be in charge of the arrangements.
