Janet Smith Chapman, 67, of Blytheville, unexpectedly left us on Aug. 9, 2024.

Born in Blytheville to Wallace and Jean Dodt Smith, Janet was a passionate mother, mimi, wife and a remarkable teacher for over 30 years. She spent countless hours preparing school lessons, sharing her wealth of knowledge in teaching her students, as well as her own grandchildren. Janet enjoyed taking pictures of everyone, listening to music and watching football. She anxiously awaited the start of football season with vigor and excitement. Janet not only had a passion for the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Notre Dame Irish, but lived for high school Friday night lights. She had a strong circle of friends, which she stayed in contact with, including Central School teacher friends, childhood friends and relatives.

Without a doubt, her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Janet would drop anything for her daughters and grandchildren.

Bob and Janet shared 34 years together in perfect harmony. We are all lost with out her physical presence but know for sure she is wrapped in the arms of her beloved mother.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by a nephew, Ross Smith.

Janet is survived by her loving husband, Bob Chapman of the home; daughters, Brooke Kincaid and Josh of Dell, Heather Wallace of Jonesboro, and Amber Adkins of Florida; six grandchildren, Rylan, Carter, Carsen, Madison, Payton and Harlan; one great-grandchild, Knox; six brothers, Doug Smith and Donna, Michael Smith and Ellie, Wayne Smith and Cynthia, Wally Smith and Ann, Greg Smith and Charna and Mike Davis; and one sister, Paula Banks.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bob Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 5-7 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Blytheville Humane Society, P.O. Box 1855, Blytheville, AR 72316, as Janet and Bob always opened their hearts and homes to those animals that needed a safe sanctuary.
