Donald Ray Lasater, 85, of Manila, passed from this life Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Son of the late Thomas Green and Laura Marie Barnhart Lasater, he was born and raised in the Big Lake Township of Blackwater and attended Blackwater School. He served in the United States Army from 1957-1960. Donald was a road superintendent for the Mississippi County Road Department until his retirement in 2005. After his retirement he went on to work for Drainage District 16. He was a member of Blackwater Baptist Church; the former VFW in Manila and he was a Freemason. Donald enjoyed gardening, playing cards, riding his UTV. He also loved working in the shop with his son and grandsons as well as playing with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Barbara Ann Lasater of the home; one son, Philip Lasater (Jeanette) of Manila; one sister, Yvonne Lasater Williams of Burnet, Texas; two grandchildren, Philip Lasater Jr. and Dustin Drew Lasater (Stephanie); four great-grandchildren, Kylee Lasater, Brody Lasater, Hadleigh McCoy and Livvy Lasater.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Pastor Donnie Riley officiating, assisted by Ricky Lee. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Gerald Williams, David Ohler, Jimmy Yancey, Tony Stone, Shane Lasater and Dustin Lasater. Honorary pallbearers include Justin Daniels and Ricky Lee. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
