Lovie Jean Moss Clay
Lovie Jean Moss Clay of Belleville, Ill., formerly of Blytheville, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., at the age of 76, only two days shy of her 77th birthday. Jean was born Aug. 7, 1947, in Hernando, Miss., to Reverse Moss Sr. and Lena Clayton Moss. The family moved from Mississippi to Blytheville when she was a child. Jean attended Richard B. Harrison High School. Known as an outstanding cook, Jean worked at Harry’s Steak House and retired from MCAEOC where she was a part of the cafeteria staff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverse Sr. and Lena Moss; four brothers, Reverse Moss Jr., Charles Moss, Freddie Moss and Willie Moss; two sisters, Alma Moss and Maggie Dean.
She leaves three nieces, Brenda Crisp of O’Fallon, Ill., JoAnn Long of Blytheville and Donna Moss of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four nephews, Freddie Moss Jr., Donnell Moss, Chris Moss and Frederick Moss, all of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of McDonald-Horne Funeral Home, 1207 South Division Street, Blytheville. Reverend Johnny Williams will deliver the eulogy with interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blytheville.
