Jerald Walter Underwood, lovingly known as “Spud,” passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024, at the age of 82, at his home in Blytheville, after a brief battle with cancer. Spud was born on May 29, 1942, in Tomato, to Claud and Lillie Scott Underwood. His infectious smile and warm personality endeared him to all who knew him. A true outdoorsman, Spud found joy in fishing and spending time with his friends. Spud was preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Lillie Underwood; his beloved wife and sweetheart, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Mashburn; his son, Jerald Ray Underwood; and his siblings, Andrew, Betty Lancaster, James Junior ‘Jim’, Bruce ‘Buck’, Michael Dean, Paul ‘Pete’, Julian Wayne ‘Punkin’ and James Ray ‘Rusty’.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Tomas-Diego of Corinth, Miss.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Bob ‘Goat’, Don, Mary, Shelia, and Bill, along with many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Hopper family as well as Rickey and Michele Moore for their years of friendship and compassionate care for our Uncle Spud.

Please join us in celebrating Spud’s life at a memorial service on July 20 at 10 am at Razor’s Place, formerly known as His Ministries.
