William A. McKinney Sr. of Burdette was born Feb. 7, 1938, in Mississippi County to Samuel L. McKinney and Ruby L. Simmons McKinney. William was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, and usher under the pastorage of Reverend Leroy Nash. He worked hard to provide for his family, retiring from the Blytheville Canning Factory.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlie Ann McKinney, and a son, William A. McKinney, Jr. Mr. McKinney passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 86.

He is survived by two sons, Wardell McKinney of Burdette and Charlie McKinney of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Lois McKinney-Wilkins of Helena and Cynthia McKinney of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Tommy McKinney of Burdette, Willie B. (Shirley) White of Elkhart, Ind., and Jackie McKinney of Marysville, Ind.; five sisters, Ernestine McKinney and Clara Alexander, both of Marysville, Ind., Minnie Jean Merriweather of Lansing, Mich., Margaret Ann McKinney of Warren, Mich., and Benoit Payne of Memphis, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation for Mr. McKinney will be held Saturday, July 13, from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Faith and Glory Christian Followship, 1510 Kari Lane, Blytheville, where Reverend Adron Poole is the pastor. Funeral services will begin at 11a.m. at the church. Reverend Leroy Nash will deliver the eulogy with interment to follow in Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Burdette.
