In the City of Blytheville, code 7.17 outlaws fireworks of all kinds within city limits. This includes the shooting or sale of any fireworks, skyrockets, toy pistols, torpedoes, etc. Shooting fireworks within the city can result in a $500 fine through the Blytheville Police Department.
A fireworks show will be held once again for the community at the Blytheville Sportsplex. Sponsored by the city Advertising & Tourism Promotions Committee, the show will begin at dusk on the holiday.
The community is invited to stop by the Arkansas Aeroplex before the big fireworks show, from 1-7:30 p.m., to view the Blytheville Air Force Exhibition on Idaho Street.
In Gosnell, Ordinance 49 outlaws fireworks in city limits and residents are subject to a $100 fine for violating.
Manila officials have confirmed that fireworks are illegal in that city as well.
Residents of Osceola are reminded of city ordinance 1999-747, which makes it illegal for anyone to sell or shoot fireworks within city limits. Those caught selling fireworks within the city limits will face up to a $100 fine for each offense. Those caught shooting fireworks could face a $25 fine.
Osceola will also have a city sponsored fireworks show on July 4 at around 9 p.m. at the Dickie Kennemore Community Center.
Residents are also reminded to stay away from illegal explosives. These devices are commonly known as M-80s, M-100s, blockbusters, or quarter pounders. Federally banned since 1966, these items will not contain the manufacturer’s name and are usually totally unlabeled.
