Walter L. Hopper Sr., 74, of Blytheville, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 23, 2024, at his home.
Walter was born in Armorel to J.W. and Martha Scott Hopper and was a lifelong Blytheville native. He retired from a very rewarding career that spanned several decades at Nucor Yamato Steel. Walter was a servant of the Lord and was a faithful member of Ruddle Road Church of God. After retirement, Walter found great joy in landscaping his yard, always making sure it was immaculate. He was a sports enthusiast, and you could always find him cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks as well as the St. Louis Cardinals. Walter was dedicated to his family, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 wonderful years, Cathy Hopper; and brother-in-law, Jerry Richardson.
Walter is survived by his children, Lynn Hopper and wife Cheryl of Manila, Jeff Hopper and wife Andrea of Armorel, and Amy Ketchum and husband Lee of Gosnell; grandchildren, Justin, Taylor, Levi, Ty, Ally, Hannah, Hailey, Knox and Kacie; brothers, Doyle “Buddy” Hopper and wife Sherrie, and Tony Hopper and wife Adonis, all of Blytheville; and sister, Paulette Richardson of Blytheville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Ruddle Road Church of God with Rev. Danny Pankey officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
