Hubert Lowell Wilkey, 83, passed away June 20, 2024, in Jonesboro. Born Nov. 19, 1940, in Osceola, he spent much of his life in the same state he loved. Hubert dedicated many years to his work as a maintenance man, a career that allowed him to touch the lives of many with his hands-on skills and diligent work ethic.

Beyond his professional life, Hubert was an avid outdoorsman who relished in hunting and fishing. His love for storytelling was evident in his knack for telling jokes, bringing laughter and joy to all who knew him. Hubert’s warm spirit and kind-hearted jokes will be deeply missed by his community and family.

He is survived by a very special friend, Emily Johnson; four sons, Roger Wilkey, Robert (Monique) Smith of Osceola, Michael Smith of Branson, Mo., and Jerry (April) Smith of Mountain Home; three daughters, Patricia Sluder and Lisa Wilkey, both of Jonesboro, and Angela (Mike) Brawley of Monette; one brother, Thomas Wilkey of Osceola; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Rolly and Minnie Weaver-Wilkey; daughter, Debbi Miller; three brothers, Robert, Herbert, and Rolly “Buddy” Wilkey; and a sister, Bonnie Franks.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 1323 W. Keiser Ave., Osceola, AR 72370. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m., with Bro. Gary Andrews officiating. Hubert will be laid to rest at Bassett Cemetery in Bassett. Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola is assisting the family with arrangements.
