Memorial Day is a federal holiday to honor and mourn United States military personnel who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. There will be an observance of the sacrifice of service men and women on Monday, May 27, at 1 p.m., at the Herman Davis Monument on South Baltimore Street in Manila.
The guest speaker will be Jack Bradford, a Vietnam Veteran. Joe Chipman, a U.S. Navy Veteran, will be the Master of Ceremonies and will oversee the Missing Man’s Table Ceremony.
Fred Greathouse with the service organization Veterans Helping Veterans, will present a statue and certificate of honor to a local veteran.
Arkansas State Representative Johnny Rye will sing the National Anthem and Pastor Alan Glass will sing God Bless the USA.
Everyone is invited to join with the people of Manila, along with local and state dignitaries, to honor the service men and women who died in service to the United States of America.
