Jeromy Guy, boxing coach, is announcing a USA Boxing sanctioned event to be held in Trumann on Saturday, June 8. It is sponsored by the USA Boxing and Trumann Boxing Club. The Throw Down in T-Town event will consist of 25 bouts with participants from across Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma, Georgia and Mississippi.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Weigh-in will be at 12 to 2 p.m.; physicals at 3:30 p.m.; and matches at 6 p.m.
The official in charge will be Allan Nader and the ringside physician will be Johnathan White.
The event will be held at the Old Community Center, 100 Poinsett Ave., in Trumann. For more information call 870-284-1343.
Guy said the boxing club is part of the LBC 23 which consists of clubs in Little Rock, Ft. Smith, Searcy and Trumann. Guy, a Trumann native, has been boxing for 25 years. He started at the age of 15. His son also has followed in the sport.
“This is something I started for the kids,” Guy said.
The upcoming event will be 25 bouts with about 50 kids competing. The two main events are both from Trumann.
“It will be open to the public and everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy this local boxing event,” Guy said.”
Ticket prices are: kids 10 and under free; kids, $10; and Adults, $15.
