Riverside hosted the 2024 sports auction and scholarship dinner on Tuesday, May 7. Rebel basketball coach Buster Campbell served as the auctioneer thanking everyone for their support.
Athletic Director Jason Durham also thanked the Booster Club, coaches, athletes and fans for a great year.
Coach Campbell went on to say the annual auction and dinner serves two purposes. “One, to help fund the athletic program; and two, probably the most important, is to provide scholarships.” The dinner/auction is held each year in memory of Troy Case, a former coach/administrator at Riverside.
Gail Case spoke briefly thanking everyone for honoring her husband with the event each year and congratulating the Riverside Athletes on their accomplishments.
In addition to the live auction, a silent auction of a variety of home baked items were provided.
Several of the auction items included plaques, benches and tables made from the floor and bleachers of the old Riverside/Lake City gymnasium that is being torn down.
Riverside’s own Gavin Stone, pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, provided one of his baseball gloves and balls to be auctioned off. Several of his baseball cards were also available for auction. More than 100 items were donated for the auction.
Riverside High School athletes assisted with the auction.
