CORNING - On a beautiful but cool, windy day visiting Gosnell would blow past the Corning Bobcats winning by run-rule, 24-0, in four innings at Corning.

The Pirates offense would score twice in the first, four times in the second, six times in the third and 12 times in the fourth to put away the home team. Savanna Gist was strong in the circle for Gosnell limiting Corning to only four base runners in her four innings of work. Gist allowed only one hit, while issuing two walks. Corning also had a batter reach on a Gosnell fielding error.

Gosnell’s offense would get untracked in the second inning as Aubrey Hill doubled to center leading off and moved to third on Leilah Prude’s bouncer back to the pitcher. Anna Claire Smith then loaded the bases with an infield hit. Mandy Scissell’s ground out RBI to second base scored two to make it 3-0. Three batters later Cheyenne Trapp’s double to center cleared the bases to make it 6-0 Gosnell.

Corning, meanwhile was held in check by Gist who allowed a walk in each of the first two innings, with the second inning walk by Corning’s would reach third base but Gist would strike out the final Bobcat batter of the inning to keep the score 6-0.

The Pirates Prude would blast a homerun to straight away center field with one on in the third inning to make it 8-0. Gosnell would score again two batters later as Scissell singled home Smith to make it 9-0. Scissell, Natalie Moresco and Brayden Ritchey would was the courtesy runner for Gist all scored later in the inning to make it 12-0.

Kylie Zimer would record Corning’s only hit, an infield ground ball to short stop with one out in the third, but would be unable to advance as Gist struck out the next two batters to end the inning.

Gosnell would bat around nearly twice in the fourth inning while ringing up 12 runs to take a 24-0 advantage to the bottom of the inning. Corning’s Ava Goodman would reach on a two-out error by Gosnell in the bottom of the fourth and stole second, but Gist would retire the side with a strike out to end the inning and the game.

Gosnell had several nice offensive performances in the victory with Smith going 4-for-5 with four runs scored. Scissell went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI. Moresco went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a walk and four runs scored. Gist went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Ritchey had five runs scored as a courtesy runner for Gist. Trapp was 3-for-4 with a run scored and four RBIs. Hallee Griggs went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Hills went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Prude went 2-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and a run scored. Thompson went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs a scored.

Gist allowed only one hit, while walking two and picking up 10 strike outs while facing 16 batters. Gosnell improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in Conference 3A-3 play. Corning fell to 6-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
