LAKE CITY - The Riverside Rebels earned their 10th win of the 2024 season and 11th consecutive home victory Tuesday defeating visiting Westside, 8-2, in non-conference baseball action at Riverside High School.
Riverside scored a run in the bottom of the first off of losing pitcher Easton Baldridge and scored four times in the bottom of the third to take a 5-0 lead. The Rebels added three runs in the bottom of the inning before the Warriors scored twice in the top of the sixth off of Durham.
The Rebels offense was paced by Bryce Smith and Caden Cavazos who each had a hit and two RBIs. Cash Gillis had a double and an RBI, while Tucker Emery had a hit and an RBI as well. Maddox Stone had a RBI for the Rebels, while Jackson Mann went 2-for-3 at the dish and Jessie Schoolfield had a base hit. Riverside improved to 10-2 overall this season.
Westside (2-10) was led by Watlington who had a hit and an RBI. Landon Webb, Blane Smith and Clark Womble had the other Warrior hits, while Baldridge drove in the Warriors other run.
Riverside pitchers Thatcher Durham and Brayson Timms combined to limit the Warriors to four hits in the victory. Durham went six innings, giving up a pair of runs on tow hits. Durham issued three walks and picked up six strike outs while getting the win. Timms pitched the final inning giving up two hits, but did not allow a run.
