Vanita Mae Hay, 98, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Flo and Phil Hospice House.

Vanita was born to Tollie and Audie Henderson Campbell in St. James, Ark. During the depression, she moved from the hills of the Ozarks to the cotton fields of the Delta. She was the last surviving graduate from Burdette’s Class of 1944. Vanita was a charter member of North 10th Street Baptist Church in Blytheville and managed Hancock Fabrics. She would tell anyone that Jesus was most important in her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hay; and a sister, Imogene Abbott.

Vanita is survived by a daughter, Rebecca True, and husband Richard of Spokane, Wash.; a son, David Hay of Paragould; two grandchildren, Mandy True Hammons, and husband Mark of Spokane, Wash., and Cody Hay, and wife Sarah of Paragould; four great-grandchildren, Andrew and Bradley Hammons, Paul Campbell Hay, David Randall Hay; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 1, at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Samaritan’s Purse Organization or North 10th Street Baptist Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
