Isiah Reed
Isiah Reed, a centenarian born on the 28th of July, 1923, in the small town of Burdette, completed his earthly journey on the 21st of March, 2024, in the city of Jonesboro. His life, marked by the love and respect of his family and community, spanned a full century of cherished memories.
He leaves behind a legacy through his family, including his devoted sons, Bennie (and wife Lovie) Reed of Cairo, Leon Reed of Chicago, Curley Reed of Osceola, Farris (and wife Deborah) Reed of Jonesboro, James Henry (and wife Rosemary) Reed of Keiser, and Larry Joe (and wife Nancy) Reed of Dallas. His loving presence will also be greatly missed by his daughters, Detrak Reed-Porter of Jonesboro, Shirley Flowers of Bellwood, and Cassandra Cook of Wilson. The branches of his family tree extend to include a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy.
Isiah was welcomed into the arms of his ancestors, joining his beloved parents, Oscar and Mary Reed, his dear wife Viola Reed, his sons Isiah Reed Jr., Claude Reed, Eugene Reed, his daughter Nelly Amos, and his siblings, four brothers and two sisters, who all preceded him in death.
The Reed family wishes to extend an invitation to friends and community members to pay their respects during visitation hours set for Friday, March 29, from 6- 8 p.m. The following day, a funeral service to honor Isiah’s life will be conducted on Saturday, March 30, at 10 a.m. at the Living Word Church of God in Christ in Osceola. The service will be presided over by Karen Reed and followed by Isiah’s interment at Whiteside Cemetery, Osceola, where he will be laid to rest.
