POCAHONTAS - Trumann finished in eighth place in the annual Peco Relays held Thursday at Pocahontas High School. The Lady Wildcats track and field teams finish was the best among the six area schools who competed in the event which was won by Valley View’s 131 point effort.
Trumann scored 24 points, while Marked Tree tallied 14 points. Blytheville scored 11.5 points, while Riverside and Rivercrest both scored 5 points. Harrisburg had a total of 4 points to round out the area schools scoring.
The best finish for the area schools was a third place effort in the triple jump posted by Trumann’s Lynlee Correa who leaped 30-01. The Lady Wildcats 4x200 meter relay squad of Catoria Anderson, Natalie Bingham, Correa and Chelsy Jones finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:59.46. The same four finished sixth in the 4x100 meter relay posting a time of 57.38 seconds. Trumann’s Maddie Barnes finished sixth in the 400 meter dash, seventh in the 1600 meter run and eighth in the 800 meter run. Correa also scored a point for an eighth place finish in the 200 meter dash, while Jones scored 3 in the 100 meter hurdles.
Marked Tree Zyonna Anderson scored all 14 of her teams points with a fourth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles, fifth place in the 100 meter dash, sixth in the 200 meter dash and a seventh place effort in the long jump.
Blytheville’s points came with an eighth place finish in the 100 meters by Ruthie Goss, a seventh place effort in the 400 meter run by Maci Stancle, a point in the 300 meter hurdles from Zyaricka Wade, a seventh place finish by the 4x200 meter relay team of Makayla Thomas, LaDonna King, Honee Wells and Essence Brimlett., a seventh place finish in the triple jump by Nevaeh Jones and a seventh place finish in the Shot Put by McKenzie Thomas.
Riverside and Rivercrest both scored five points. The Lady Colts came from a fourth place finish in the pole vault by Madalyn Gibson (8-06), while the Lady Rebels points were scored by Briley Travis’ sixth place finish in the 1600 meter run and a point for the 100 meter hurdles. Henleigh McAnally scored a point for her eighth place effort in the 1600 meter run.
