POCAHONTAS - The Blytheville boys paced three area junior high track and field squads with a fifth place finish at the Jr. Peco Relays held Monday at Pocahontas High School. Blytheville scored 59.5 points to capture fifth place ahead of sixth place Westside (42 points).

The meet was won by host Pocahontas which scored 130 points to easily get past second place Southside High School (94 points). Brookland finished in third place with 77.5 points and Valley View was fourth with 67 points. The team from Harrisburg finished ninth with 25 points. Trumann finished in sixteenth place with 7.5 points.

Blytheville had one first place finish when Jatavian Wilson blazed to first place in the 100 Meter dash posting a time of 12.10 seconds. His teammate Yahr Gonzales was second in 12.25 seconds.

Gonzales also finished in fourth place in the 200 meters with a time of 6.51 seconds. He also had the Chicks next best individual finish placing third in the long jump with a leap of 18-0.5. Wilson and Gonzales also scored in the high jump with a 5-4 leap good for fourth place by Wilson and Gonzales was fifth with a height of 5-2.

Elijah Brown was fourth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 19-98 seconds. Brown also finished fourth in the 300 meter hurdles with a 48.3 second time, while Wilson was sixth posting a time of 49.02 seconds.

The junior Chicks relay teams also scored with a second place in the 4x100 (49.11 seconds) and an eighth place finish in the 4x400 (4:36.73).

The Harrisburg boys had two individuals and two relay teams score points. Remington Rapert had the best individual finish taking third place in the 200 meter dash (26.32 seconds). Rapert also finished fifth in the 100 meters (12.46 seconds). Noah Lacy finished sixth in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:03.51.

The junior Hornets best finish was second place in the 4x200 meter relay (1:45.76) and the 4x100 meter squad took fifth with a time of 50.20 seconds.

The junior Wildcats scored in the 400 meter run when Cayden Steele tied for eighth to earn a half point. Dorian Boyce finished eighth in the 100 meter hurdles to earn a point. Trumann’s 4x200 meter and 4x800 meter relay teams both finished in sixth place. Posting times of 1:47.73 in the 4x200 and 11:32.12 in the 4x800.
