The Manila School Board accepted several resignations and adopted the 2024-2025 calendar at the Feb. 19 meeting.

All board members, Jeremy Jackson, Monte Middleton, Brooke Chipman, Dennis Crosskno, Jackie Hill, Casey Wells and Tracey Reinhart, were present.

Following an executive session, Superintendent Jason Evers presented three letters of resignation.

Deborah Crosthwait, elementary teacher, will be retiring at the end of the school year. Crosthwait has 38 years in education with the last 25 years in the Manila District. The board accepted her resignation, thanking her for her years of service.

Deborah Lee, high school media specialist, announced her plans to retire at the end of the school year. Lee has 43 years in the Manila School District. The board voted 6-1 to accept her resignation with Middleton casting the no vote.

The board voted 6-1 to accept the resignation of elementary principal Sherry Mason. Chipman cast the no vote.

The board voted unanimously to approve the alternate minute calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. The calendar was approved by the staff by a 85 percent vote.

The board discussed transportation, approving the purchase of a new or used school bus up to $140,000 and a new or used school vehicle up to $50,000.

The Manila School Board meets the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
