Charles Lee “Bigfoot” Woods
Charles Lee “Bigfoot” Woods was born Nov. 16, 1956, to the late L.C. Woods and Catherine Chatmon, in Blytheville. Charles died Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at his home in Blytheville. He was preceded in death by his father; L.C. Woods; mother; Catherine Chatmon-Hill; and his grandmother, Estella Chatmon.
Charlie attended Robinson Primary School and Richard B. Harrison High School. At an early age he dedicated his life to Christ at Progressive Baptist Church under the leadership of pastor Lee O. Burton. He was united in marriage to Betty Brown-Woods. They remained married until her death.
Charlie loved to work, until his health failed and he couldn’t anymore. He was a brick mason by trade, working under Johnny Brown, TC Wheeler, T. Parks and Larry Black. He enjoyed laughing with people, telling jokes, dancing, having a good time with his friends. People just enjoyed being around him. He’s known for being at the “HUT”. He truly enjoyed life until his health failed. But most of all he enjoyed his family, especially his cousin Rose.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Christina Newmy of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Nicki (Roy) Streety of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one son, Charles Lee Woods Jr. of California; one sister, Catina Hill-Miles (Kendrick L. Miles Sr.); two grandchildren, Dont’e and Destiny Newmy; one niece, Kenda Miles; two nephews;,Kendrick L. Miles Jr. and Khristopher D. Miles; a host of nieces and nephews; four cousins, Clara (Elmer) Davis, Geneva Dancy, Yolunda Chatmon and Yvette Shannon; one uncle, Willie Jay Chatmon. He also leaves may special cousins, nephews, nieces and a host of special friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 2, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., at Faith & Glory Christian Fellowship Church, 1510 Kari Lane, Blytheville. Funeral service will follow at noon. Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in Blytheville.
Services are entrusted to Gary Wolfe at Wolf Brothers Funeral Home & Cremation, 634 W. Main Street, Blytheville.
