Danny Brown
Danny Brown, 77, of Piggott, passed away Dec. 12, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born May 2, 1946, in Manila, and was the son of the late Charles Edward and Bessie (Curnutt) Brown. Danny was united in marriage to Judy Settlemoir on Jan. 25, 1976, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Cappie and Bernice.
Danny worked many years serving in law enforcement. He began working as an Arkansas State Trooper in 1969 and retired after 36 years of service. In 1972, he was named Trooper of the Year for a life saving event. He owned and operated Settlemoir-Brown Construction Company. Danny also began Brown’s Auto Glass business which he worked many years alongside his son. He loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He could be found at many of their activities and sporting events. He also enjoyed card parties with his friends. Danny was active in the local community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #545 and American Legion. He was a member of the Piggott Health Care Facitilies Board since 1996, where he spent many years advocating for the Piggott Hospital.
Danny is survived by his son, Chuck Brown and wife Cindy of Leachville; grandsons, Drake Brown and wife Jessica of Leachville, and Slade Sitz and wife Amanda of Manila; great-grandchildren, Coleson Brown, Harrison Sitz and Halston Sitz; special friend, Robyn Nagy of Piggott; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, with Bro. Mike Book and Bro. Danny Self officiating. Burial is in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Pallbearers will be James Lee Magee, Drake Brown, Ronnie Cole, Slade Sitz, Jim Gearhart and Gary Magee. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott.
