The field is set for the annual Northeast Arkansas Invitational Tournament which will be held Dec. 18-20 and Dec. 27-30 at First National Bank Arena at Arkansas State University.
The top seeds for the boys 76th annual event, voted on by the coaches, are Brookland in Division 1 and Bay in Division 2.
The top seeds for the girls draw are Greene County Tech in Division 1 and, in Division 2, Riverside is the top seed.
The Division 2 girls has a 12-team draw with eighth-seeded Sloan Hendrix and ninth-seeded Cross County meeting Dec. 20 with the winner advancing to play top seeded Riverside on Dec. 28.
Seventh-seeded Cedar Ridge and 10th-seeded Hillcrest are set to play Dec. 18 with the winner facing second-seeded Marked Tree Dec. 28.
Sixth-seeded Izard County Consolidated and 11th-seeded Bay meet Dec. 20 with the winner facing Buffalo Island Central Dec. 27, and fifth-seeded Rector and 12th-seeded McCrory play Dec. 19 with the winner meeting fourth-seeded Marmaduke Dec.27.
The Division 1 girls draw has an 11-team field. Top seeded GCT opens tournament play in the quarterfinals Dec. 28 against the winner of the Dec. 20th contest between eighth-seeded Walnut Ridge and ninth-seeded Gosnell.
Second-seeded Batesville also begins play in the quarterfinal Dec. 28, facing the winner of the Dec. 19 contest between seventh-seeded Cave City and 10th -seeded Newport.
Third-seeded Westside plays Dec. 27 against the winner of the Dec. 18 game between sixth-seeded Tuckerman and 11th-seeded Hoxie. Fourth-seeded Pocahontas and fifth-seeded Rivercrest will play Dec. 27 in the quarterfinals.
The Division 2 boys bracket has 14 teams. Top-seeded Bay and second-seeded Marked Tree both have a first round bye and open play Dec. 28 in the quarterfinal round. Bay will meet the winner of the Dec. 20 game between number eight Crowley’s Ridge Academy and ninth-seeded Cross County. Marked Tree will meet the winner of the Dec. 19th game between seventh-seeded Corning and 10th -seeded Hoxie.
First round match-ups in Division 2 include third-seeded Riverside taking on 14th-seeded Armorel on Dec. 18. Fourth-seeded Buffalo Island Central and 13th-seeded McCrory will meet Dec. 19. The Rector Cougars, the fifth-seed takes on 12th-seeded Ridgefield Christian, Dec. 20; and sixth-seeded Marmaduke taking on number 11 Hillcrest, Dec. 18.
In the 14-team Division 1 boys bracket, top-seeded Brookland has a first round bye and will meet the winner of the Dec. 19 game between eighth-seeded Blytheville and ninth-seeded Walnut Ridge in the quarterfinals, Dec. 28. Second-seeded Forrest City also has a bye to the quarterfinals on Dec. 28. The Mustangs will meet the winner of the Dec. 20 game between seventh-seeded Tuckerman and 10th -seeded Trumann.
Other first round games in the Division 1 draw include third-seeded Rivercrest meeting number 14 Piggott Dec. 20. The fourth-seeded Valley View Blazers and 13th-seeded Harrisburg Hornets meet Dec. 18; fifth-seeded Westside and 12th-seeded Newport meet Dec. 20; and sixth-seeded Batesville tangles with 11th-seeded Cave City, Dec. 20.
Semifinal games in all four divisions are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 29 and the championship games are set for Saturday, Dec. 30.
