BARTON - Rivercrest hit the road Nov. 30 for a game at Barton and the Lady Colts would come out on top by a 60-51 margin.

Coach Ronnie Dye’s squad opened up a 12-6 lead over the Lady Bears after one period of play. Barton would outscore the Lady Colts 12-9 in the second period to get within three (21-18) at the break.

The Lady Colts opened the third quarter hot from the field and would outscore their hosts 18-10 in the frame to take a double digit advantage (39-28) to the final period.

Rivercrest would hold on to that advantage most of the final period and would go on to post the nine-point victory.

Senior guard Destiny Burks led the lady Colts with a double, double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Burks also had four steals and dished out three assists. Senior center Zakiyah Brownlee also had a double, double with 14 points and 16 rebounds. The 6-5 post player also blocked four Barton shots.

Jalexia Young added 13 points and grabbed five rebounds. Senior guard Mykayla Banks scored 10 points, hauled down eight rebounds and had five assists.

Barton fell to 5-2 on the season.

The Lady Colts, winners of three of their last four games, improved to 4-3 overall on the season. Rivercrest hosted Armorel Tuesday, Dec. 5 and travels to Helena Dec. 7.

Rivercrest won the junior high game 41-21. Armani Facon led Rivercrest with 14 points and Randaisha Booker added six points for the junior Lady Colts.
