Blytheville – According to a Blytheville Police Department release, a shooting has resulted in the death of Erica Chew, 42, of Blytheville.
According to the report on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at approximately 11:06 p.m., officers with the Blytheville Police Department responded to the area of Willow and Madison due to hearing shots fired in the vicinity.
Once in the area, they were advised that a gunshot victim had arrived at the Great River Medical Center. Officers responded to the hospital emergency room where they made contact with the victim who was identified as Erica Chew.
Medical personnel were able to stabilize the victim who was later flown to the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. Chew later succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation into the shooting revealed the incident to be domestic related and the suspect in the shooting to be Elbert Earl Thomas, Jr., 34. Warrants have been issued against Thomas for murder 2nd degree and possession of a firearm by certain person.
Thomas should be considered armed and dangerous.
