LaSonya PaShun Barnes Mitchell
LaSonya PaShun Barnes Mitchell was born to Billy D. Williams and Gloria Dean Barnes on Nov. 21, 1967, in Gary, Ind. She was raised in Blytheville, where she attended the Blytheville High School, graduating in 1986, and was employed at MCAEOC Head Start as a bus monitor.
Shunn confessed a hope in Christ and was a faithful member of Eternal Salvation Pentecostal Church under the pastorage of Bishop John D. Mayberry.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe Henry and Lula Mae Johnson, James Holliday, Rose Barnes; her aunt, Katherine Wilkins; and uncles, Carl Richard Ellis and Steven Smyth.
Shunn departed this life at NEA Hospital in Jonesboro on Nov. 24, 2023.
Those left to cherish memories are her husband, Elbert “EJ” Mithcell of the home; her son, Fredrick (Angelica) Taylor of Blytheville; two daughters, Vanessa (Titus) Crockett of Marked Tree and Kimberly Mitchell of Marion; her mother, Gloria Dean Barnes of Greenville, S.C.; her sister, LaKina Jones, also of Greenville, S.C.; her brother, LaSanto Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; her Viskase, MCAEOC, and Eternal Salvation Pentecostal Church families.
Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 1, from 5-7 p.m. at Eternal Salvation Pentecostal Church, 1914 West Cherry Street, Blytheville, where Bishop John D. Mayberry is the pastor.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at Eternal Salvation Pentecostal Church. Bishop John D. Mayberry will deliver the eulogy with interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
