Lighting ceremony honors First Responders

A lighting ceremony at the Leachville fire station was held honoring Judy and Morrell “Smokey” Mangrum, donated by Dwight and Michael Mangrum and families; and Buie Ray, donated by Suzanne Faught, Luke, Jared & Olivia Dixon. The two additional lamp posts were approved to be installed at Fire Station #1.

The lighting event took place on Thursday, Nov. 16, at the fire station.

“We would like to thank the families who purchased the memorial lampposts honoring their loved ones who served as First Responders for several years,” Jarred Price, president of the Leachville Beautification Corp. said. “Their memory will forever shine on for tears to come through these beautiful lampposts. We would also like to thank the Leachville Fire Department for their teamwork and cooperation. Community pride and teamwork happens when people work together, not against each other. Instead of focusing on reasons why we can’t do things for our community, let’s strive to discover ways to say, YES WE CAN!”

Family members of the honorees shared stories about the service of the First Responders.

Price thanked everyone who had a part in getting the project completed for the ceremony.
