James Thomas Johnson Jr.

James Thomas Johnson Jr. of Osceola was born May 14, 1951, to the late James Thomas Johnson Sr. and the late Freddie Lee Knox. James passed away Oct. 19, 2023, at the age of 72. He is preceded in death by his father, James Thomas Johnson Sr.; mother, Freddie Lee Knox Johnson; brother, Eddie Lee Johnson; and a son, James Thomas Johnson III.

He served in the United States Army and later owned a thrift store in Osceola. James was a member of Green Acres Church of Christ under the leadership of Bro. Nathan Suiter in Osceola.

James is survived by four daughters, Rosalind Johnson of Memphis, Tenn., Camellia Johnson of Osceola, Samantha Johnson and Tara Johnson, both of Little Rock; three sons, Timothy Clay (Rita) of Bessemer, Ala., Kelton Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., and Braxton Johnson of Carlisle, Pa.; four brothers, Fredrick Johnson and Joseph Johnson, both of Osceola, Robert Johnson (Bobbie) of Memphis, Tenn., and Charles Johnson of Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Wanda Dabney (Carl) of Trumann and Viola Johnson of Chicago, Ill.; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; aunt, Mary Ann Crochran (Gregory) of San Antonino, Texas; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10-10:55. Funeral service will follow at 11 at St. John M.B. Church, 101 Monroe St., Marked Tree (corner of Elm and Monroe). Interment will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. at Birdeye (Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery), 3600 AR-163, Cherry Valley.
