Annabell Lutes Mitchell
Annabell Lutes Mitchell, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born Feb. 15, 1932, to Walter “Bud” and Ruby Wright Lutes in Blytheville. She graduated from Burdette High School in Burdette in 1950 and was married to John Haskin Mitchell on Dec. 2, 1950. They were married for 69 years until John’s passing on Nov. 11, 2020.
Annabell was employed by many different companies: Douglass Aircraft, GMAC, Blytheville Air Force Base, Welfare Department, Social Security Administration and finally retired as a social worker for the Blytheville public schools. After her retirement she volunteered as a teacher’s aide at Gosnell kindergarten. She was a faithful member at New Liberty Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible school for many years and then at First Baptist Manila. Her love for her Lord, family and others was evident in her words and actions.
Annabell was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Morris W. (Becky) Lutes, of Cumming, Ga.; sister, Gloria Farmer, of Northport, Fla.; daughter, Susan (Tracy) Keller, of Manila; son, Greg (Patti Jo) Mitchell, of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Megan (Ralo) Brown, of Jonesboro and Will (Abbi) Clark, of Little Rock; three great-grandchildren, Jude Vincent Mitchell, Ruby Rae Brown and Raleigh Mae Brown, all of Jonesboro; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family would like to thank the staff of The Bungalows where she lived and thrived from August 2022 until September 2023 and the staff of the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for their loving care.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, Manila, on Monday, Oct. 16, from 12–2 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow at 2 p.m. A private graveside service for the immediate family will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville.
