Moba Lee (Byrd) Miller
Moba Lee (Byrd) Miller, 88, of Leachville, passed from this life on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born on May 18, 1935, in Leachville to the late Porter and Lena Byrd. She was a 1954 graduate of Leachville High School. Moba Lee was a longtime member of the Leachville United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher, as well as numerous other leadership roles. Her talents were many. She always had a big garden and enjoyed canning the vegetables it produced. She was a wonderful cook, and her table was always full with family and friends eating, playing cards, laughing and visiting.
Moba Lee was extremely civic minded and loved serving her community. The city’s Melody Theater was her great love. She worked tirelessly to keep the great landmark open, running and in good shape until her health forced her to retire in the last few years. She also helped plan and organize many annual Christmas parades, watermelon festivals and class reunions. Moba Lee was instrumental in helping secure funds for a gazebo and landscaping at the north end of the city of Leachville, as well as the new mural painted on the side of the Melody Theater.
Moba Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack Miller; her brothers, J.T. Byrd, Terry Wayne Byrd and Tommy Byrd; and her sister, Aligene Anthony.
She is survived by her sons, Gordon (Missi) Miller of Leachville and Greg (Kristin) Miller of Cabot; three grandchildren, Jordon (Skyler) Droke, Caleb (Amy) Miller and Connor (Baylie) Miller; four great-grandchildren, Miller Droke, Reed Droke, Jack Miller and Kate Miller.
