Several ex-high school stars from the area are now playing sports at the collegiate level. This week we will take a look at where a few of those athletes are playing now, how they got there, and the impact they are having at that school.

KAMRON TURNER -

LYON COLLEGE

Former Rivercrest and Osceola football quarterback Kamron Turner has landed at the Batesville, Arkansas school. Turner’s path to Lyon has included stops at Arkansas State University, where he was a preferred walk-on, then Northeastern Oklahoma State and Arkansas Baptist College.

Turner had appeared in both of the Scots games this season. The Scots backup quarterback, Turner currently leads the team in rushing with 41 net yards, Turner had 49 yards rushing and was 2-of-2 passing for 9 yards in Lyon’s season opening 18-12 win over Grinnell College. A redshirt sophomore, Turner was, however, injured in the Scots loss to Belhaven University, Sept. 9.

Turner, who holds virtually every Rivercrest passing record, expects to make a full recovery and hopes to be back in the field soon.

TRAVELLE ANDERSON -

CENTRAL ARKANSAS

Anderson, who prepped at both Gosnell and Osceola, signed with the Bears following his senior year he spent at Osceola. A gifted runner with excellent field vision and speed Anderson is a redshirt freshman for the Bears. Anderson had 37 yards rushing and scored a touchdown in UCAs season opening win over Texas College.

In high school, Anderson totaled more than 3,650 yards and scored 30 touchdowns in two seasons at Gosnell and one at Osceola.

DEMILON BROWN -

ARKANSAS-

MONTICELLO

Brown is off to a hot start in his senior season with the Bollweevils. Brown has thrown for nine touchdowns and scored one rushing touchdown in the schools season opening victories over North-eastern Oklahoma State and Southeastern Oklahoma State.

Brown has 26 career passing touchdowns and 14 rushing scores in his three seasons at UAM. Brown missed most of the 2022 season after being injured in the season opener.

Brown was a multi-sport athlete at Rivercrest High School prior to coming to Monticello. Brown led the Colts to the 2017 Class 3A State football title as the Colts upset Junction City 48-14 in Little Rock.

Brown has completed 38-of-72 passes this season for 616 yards and nine scores heading into today’s matchup with Harding University in Searcy.

MASON MOORE -

ARKANSAS TECH

UNIVERSITY

Moore is a freshman at the Russellville, Arkansas school. Moore was an outstanding high school athlete and football star at Gosnell High School. Moore led the Pirates in tackles in 2022. Moore will most likely be redshirted this season at Tech.
