At around 1 p.m. this afternoon, two vehicles were involved in an accident that resulted in a vehicle crashing through an exterior wall of the Dixie Pig building located at 701 N. Sixth St. in Blytheville. The business was closed as their normal operating hours do not include weekend service.

According to witnesses at the scene, a silver passenger van ran a stop sign which forced another vehicle, a white BMW, to swerve dramatically. As far as what came next or what pushed the BMW into the wall of the restaurant is unclear. Both drivers were immediately rushed by ambulance to hospitals in the area. No fatalities were reported at the scene and the only injuries reported appear to be the drivers of the vehicles involved with the accident.

As far as damage to the Dixie Pig, a long-time staple of Blytheville and a finalist for the 2021 Arkansas Food Hall of Fame - the exterior wall of the front facade of the building was destroyed. The interior of the restaurant - in a private dining area - also appears to have extensive damage. One of the large tables next to the exterior wall was completely broken in half by the crash along with other tables and chairs which were broken as well.

One thing that did remain unscathed was the iconic winking pig logo - which missed damage by the vehicle by mere inches. More information will be released as it becomes available.
