The Harrisburg Hornets will host the Cross County Thunderbirds in the season opener for both teams this coming Friday at Jordans Stadium. The T-birds beat Harrisburg 15-14 last season. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
Harrisburg is coming off a 2-8 season going 0-7 in the 4A-3 conference. The Hornets will have a new head coach in Austin Jarrett in his first year as a head coach. Cross County finished last season with a 2-7 record going 1-6 in the 2A-2 conference.
Max Tracy will lead the Hornets offense with Conner Henderson and Braden Brock seeing time at running back. Mark Gabbie and Aidan Mullins return on the offensive line as does tight end Trey Blackwood. Evan Henley and Untarius Tate will be targets for Tracy in the passing game.
Brock and Noah Mullins will play the ends as Gavin Kimble and Ethan Chambers will be linebackers for the Hornets' defense. Henderson and Andrew England return to the secondary and are both solid tacklers.
