Orphan Annie’s Building 2 will open Friday with a grand opening celebration. The new warehouse located just behind Orphan Annie’s new location on Broadway Street (next to the Blytheville Post Office) houses office and home furniture, wall hangings, lamps, whatnots, decorative pillows, baby items, area rugs, filing cabinets, lockers, floral arrangements, and much more.
The new location will replace the one in the former Coca-Cola building on Ash Street.
Clara Taylor and Bernie Weixelman are the managers of Building 2. They are excited about the move. The volunteers have worked together for years to maintain the thrift stores to help the animals. All of the proceeds from Orphan Annie’s stores go to the Humane Society to help house and care for the animals.
The buildings on Broad-way, (former MCEC buildings) were purchased a few months ago with future plans to place all three locations in the three buildings on the same site.
The stores are open on Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. There will be an area in front of the building for donated items which can be dropped off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
If the weather permits, they plan to paint the front door red and place a red and white open banner for customers to see.
They encourage people to come by and browse. There will be weekly specials for the customers and new items are added frequently.
