The Blytheville Police Department is continuing its focus on keeping the community safe with a Violent Crimes Reduction Unit.
"The Violent Crimes Reduction Unit focuses resources on identifying and investigating those significant violent crimes including gun violence, narcotics trafficking and other criminal activities," said Sgt. Robin Haught-Angel, public information officer for Blytheville's police department.
Haught-Angel said that since the implementation of the unit; 58 guns have been seized and 89 felony drug arrests have been made.
"While providing additional patrol in high crime areas, serving warrants, overseeing three driver safety checkpoints, and leading three violent crimes reduction saturation along with making several key arrests of criminal suspects related to various cases," Sgt. Haught-Angel said.
Sgt. Haught-Angel also said that having meaningful law enforcement engagement with the community and establishing accountability to those who choose to break the law is an important foundation for the effective strategy to address violent crime in Blytheville.
