Gladys “Jean” Birmingham

Gladys “Jean” Birmingham, 74, of Manila, passed from this life Monday, June 19, 2023, at the Manila Nursing Center. Born in Manila, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn Jerald Ramsey and had been a lifelong area resident. Jean was a 1966 graduate of Manila High School and had been an employee of American Greetings in Osceola and Southworth Products of Manila. She was the former owner operator of Jean’s Sports & Casual Wear, formerly of Manila, and was a member of Community Methodist Church and the Professional Business Women in Manila. Jean enjoyed vacationing with her family, camping and spending time on the lake. She also enjoyed attending sporting events and activities of her children and grandchildren and singing karaoke with her friends. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Birmingham, and one sister, Pat Murphy.

Survivors include one son, Shane Birmingham and his wife Kristy; daughter, Tina Birmingham; mother, Mildred Ramsey, all of Manila; brother, Rick Ramsey and his wife Karen of Mountain Home; sister Sheiron Bearden of Hernando, Miss. She also leaves four grandchildren, Zach Birmingham (Brooke), Brock Birmingham, Kaleb Birmingham and Kyler Birmingham; and two great-grandchildren, Zaleigh Birmingham and Bexleigh Birmingham.

A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at the Community Methodist Church near Manila. The family will receive visitors Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at the Manila Nursing Center for their loving care given to their loved one.
