Gracie Mae Smith
Gracie Mae Smith, 93, of Joiner, passed away May 28, 2023, at her home. She was born April 18, 1930, in Denwood to Willie and Clara Merritt Glover. She was retired from American Greetings, a member of First Baptist Church in Frenchman Bayou, Motherboard, choir member, usher, program committee member and a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Green Smith; one son, Brian Smith; one daughter, Donna Harris; one brother, Willie Glover, Jr.; three sisters, Dorothy Boone, Williestein Jiles and Ora Ghoston; seven grandchildren, Janet Adams, Terry Gentry, Gavin Gentry, Adam Meade, Parrish Simon, Parrish Smith and Vinson Harris.
She is survived by six sons, Nathaniel Adams, Jr. and Stanley ((Myra) Smith, Sr. of Joiner, Bruce Adams of Pottsdam, N.Y., Elvis (Tina) Smith of Hepzidah, Ga., Homer Boone of Turrell and Randy (Glenda) Smith of Westminster, S.C.; five daughters, Clara Harris and Cynthia Jones of Elgin, Ill., Lonna Hammond of Forrest City, Diana Meade and Beverly (George) Williams of Joiner; one sister, Vera Mason of Parkin; 37 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 7, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. with the funeral at 12 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Frenchman Bayou with Rev. Jimmy Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Paradise Gardens in Edmondson. Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola is in charge of the arrangements.
