MANILA – The Manila Lion girls track team left no doubt as to which school was the best in the 3A-3.

Manila dominated its competition with a total of 253 points Monday, April 24 at the district track meet.

None of the remaining six teams broke triple digits with Gosnell finishing second with 86, Osceola (78) fourth, Rivercrest (25) sixth, and Harrisburg (23) seventh.

The Lady Lions placed first in nine of the 18 events and earned the top two spots in five. They also posted the top three jumps in the pole vault.

Emma Jackson and Landree Costner placed first in two individual events each. Jackson earned first in the high jump and pole vault, while teammate Costner won the triple jump and the 800 meters.

Osceola’s Nevaeh Jones and Gosnell’s Nykira Real dueled all afternoon with Real winning the 100 meter and Jones finishing second. The order was reversed in the 200 meter with Jones placing first. Jones outdistanced Real in the long jump by nearly two inches. Real bounced back with a victory in the 100 hurdles.
