OSCEOLA- Rivercrest scored six times in the sixth inning to put away the Gosnell Lady Pirates 11-2 Thursday in Conference 3A-3 softball action at Osceola Parks and Recreation.
After Gosnell had taken the early lead, Rivercrest tied the game in the bottom of the first inning on a run scoring single by Mary Jo Booker. Rivercrest then seized the lead in the in the second inning as Chesnee Chandler blasted a run scoring double.
Whatever doubt there might have been about the final outcome were put to rest in the sixth inning when the Lady Colts put up six runs. Raven Powell, Molli Austin, Chandler and Booker all had an RBI in the big inning.
The Lady Colts banged out 13 hits in the victory, paced by Booker’s 3-for-4 effort at the dish.
Rivercrest pitcher Laynee Gardner was solid in the circle going all seven innings, surrendering two runs on five hits. Gardner also had four strike outs.
The Lady Colts improved to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play regaining first place from Gosnell. The Lady Pirates fell to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
