John Shelton Holmes

John Shelton Holmes, 60, of Monette, formerly of Leachville, passed from this life Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Paragould, he was the son of the late Dale and Hazel Wilborn Holmes and had lived in St. Louis before making his home in Northeast Arkansas in 1977. John had attended Leachville High School and had worked for Tucker’s Auto Body and Repair in Manila for 21 years, retiring in 2000. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant grandchild and one brother, Pete Holmes.

He is survived by his companion of 47 years, Patsy Imler of the home; one son, Butch Holmes of Monette; one daughter, Dawn Mays (Nathan) of Bald Knob; one sister, Tasha Watkins (Dempsey) of Saint Ann, Mo. He also leaves three grandchildren, Libby Mays, John Levi Mays and Elijah Lincoln Mays.
