One year and 10 days after a tornado destroyed the Leachville Dollar General Store, city officials, Dollar General representatives and guests, welcomed the new DG Market with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Leachville Mayor Rodney Robertson was pleased to cut the ribbon on Tuesday morning making the opening official. Also on hand for the event was Arkansas Senator Dave Wallace who is also a Leachville resident.

The new store is larger than the former Leachville store and will stock produce and fruits as well as thousands of other items. The new store’s location was moved nearer to the business district.

“This will be an asset to Leachville and our citizens as well as the surrounding area,” Mayor Robertson said. “We have watched the construction and are happy to see it opened.”

District Manager John Jasper said he is excited to be back in Leachville.

City council members Lisa Baldridge and Michael Webster were present for the ribbon cutting ceremony along with Officer Steve Pearson.

The store manager is Wynetta Gaines and the produce manager is Julie Mullins.
