Edith Riggs

Edith Riggs, 87, of Batesville and formerly of Dell, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, at her home.

Edith was born at her grandparents’ home in Brownsville, Miss., to Jacob and Velma Champion Gross. She was retired from Randall Company, American Greetings and was a caregiver. She always welcomed anyone into her home and always made sure they were fed before she let them leave.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Riggs; brothers, Mart, Albert, Alvin and Buddy Gross; and sisters, Irene Overton, Shelby Wallace and Velma Duckworth.

Edith is survived by her two sons, JR Riggs and his wife Connie of Batesville and Mitchell Riggs of Dell; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, at 10:30 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Knowlton officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
