Jarrel Vest
Jarrel Vest, 83, of Bismark N.D., formerly of Blytheville, passed away Nov. 23. 2022, at Maple View Memory Care in Bismark N.D. He was born in Bee Branch on Feb. 9, 1939, to Henry Vest and Bessie (Loftis) Vest.
Jarrel met the love of his life, Joyce Alls, in Paragould and they were married on July 18, 1959. They were truly inseparable. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bessie Vest; wife Joyce Bernice Vest; brothers, Arlin Vest, Farrel Vest and Billy Vest.
Jarrel served in the United States Air Force for 23 years specializing in airfield operations, served in Vietnam and in Thailand, and retired as a master sergeant (E7) in 1983. After retirement, he attended Mississippi County Community College and earned his associate of science degree. Jarrel continued to work as the airport manager at Arkansas International Airport for 23 years before his final retirement. Jarrel had several hobbies which included gardening, working in his flower beds, spending time with his family and drinking coffee. He loved taking the grandchildren on vacation every summer. Family was everything to Jarrel.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Scott) Moore of Coldwater Miss.; grandson, William (Tiffany) Thompson of Ramstein, Germany; granddaughter, Kristen (Christopher) Wallace of Bismark, N.D.; eight great-grandchildren, Olivia Thompson, Nora Thompson, Brynn Thompson, Josiah Wallace, Lily Wallace; three foster grandchildren, and sister-in-law Shirley (Robert) Myer of Paragould.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Hope City Church, PO Box 631, Bismark N.D. 58502.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Carney Funeral Home in Blytheville with Bro. Chris Wallace officiating. Visitation started at 11 a.m. prior to the funeral services.
