Carl Eugene Brooks

Carl Eugene Brooks, 88, of Manila, passed from this life Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, at his home. Born in Manila, he was the son of the late Clarence and Zephyr Thomas Brooks and had been a lifelong Manila resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been the longtime owner and operator of Brooks Welding Service before retiring in 2017. Carl was a 32nd degree Mason and longtime member of Manila Lodge #588 and a member of the First Baptist Church in Manila. He enjoyed working, watching old westerns and going to the beach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie Brooks and Jimmy Brooks; and an infant sister, Nadine Brooks.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Bertha Manley Brooks; one sister, Pat Blossom of Blytheville. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and other extended family

Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Jeff Knowlton officiating. Serving as active pallbearers will be Brent Farmer, Isaia Alvarado, Dale Dickerson, Mike Kincannon, Dennis Johnson and Jay Brooks.
