Jessie “Geneva” Alexander

Jessie “Geneva” Alexander was born June 14, 1937 in Gurdon. She left this earth on Nov. 9, 2022, to join her Heavenly Father as well as her cherished husband Joe Alexander, her beloved parents, Ruby Lee (Easley) and Jessie Taylor McClure of Gurdon, and her dear brother, Elton “Buddy” McClure.

In 1953 Geneva left Gurdon for Memphis, Tenn., where she began working for her aunt at Mae Cole’s Bar and Grill in downtown Memphis. It was there she met the love of her life, Joe Alexander, of Trumann. They were married at the First Assembly of God in Gurdon in 1954. Joe’s work made it necessary for them to move to several different cities and states before they decided to make Benton, Ark., home.

Geneva and her husband were charter members of Temple Baptist Church on Highway 67 in Benton, where for many years she was active in the children’s ministry programs. Many summers you would find her serving as a camp counselor at Spring Lake Camp in Lonsdale.

She delighted in serving others and always had a smile on her face and a big hug waiting for you. She had a remarkable ability to know just what you needed. She made all that were in her presence feel comfortable and welcomed. The world lost a beautiful soul, but Heaven gained an earthly angel.

Geneva had an amazing smile, infectious laugh, and outgoing personality. To know her would be to love her and be loved by her. She loved working in the yard and planting flowers. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing; for many years she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She always enjoyed her weekly trips to the salon followed by a little shopping. She always had a special love for pets. Later in life, she enjoyed attending the Senior Adult Center where she enjoyed the music and the fellowship. But most of all she loved and cherished her family and considered them her greatest accomplishment.

She is survived by her three children, Mike Alexander (Linda) of Grapevine, Texas, Joani Feimster (Greg) of Benton; Greg Alexander (Jan) of Benton; seven grandchildren, Chris Alexander (Elise) of Krum, Texas, Jill Feimster (Andrew Kuettel) of Cave Springs, Julie Feimster of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Eli and Amelia Alexander of Benton, Garet Feimster (Lacey) of Dallas, Texas, Dennie Feimster of Dallas, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Reagan Thomas, Luke Feimster and Kaya Feimster, all of Dallas, Texas; brother, Royce McClure and wife Judy of Gurdon; sister, Vivian Spruill of Gurdon; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 12, from 1-2 p.m. at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home (101 S. 3rd St, in Gurdon). The service immediately followed with Bro. Mike Taylor of Gurdon officiating.

Interment was at Easley Cemetery near Gurdon following the service, under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
