Roxanne Johnson Coalter
Roxanne Johnson Coalter, 88, of Blytheville, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at her home. Roxanne was born to Raymond Smith and Louella Hearn Johnson. Roxanne was a lifelong resident of Blytheville and a 1952 graduate of Blytheville High School. She loved her Lord and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She enjoyed most of all her life being involved in her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities.
She was a cotton classer/grader for the Department of Agriculture. She began her career at the Blytheville office as a recorder. In 1973, she attended class school and became a classer. When the Blytheville office closed, she drove to Hayti, Mo., and finished her career at the Memphis office, where she ended her 59 years of service working in the Quality Assurance Division.
Being a seasonal worker allowed Roxanne to help at Coalter's Clearpool by selling tickets. Through this job, many Blytheville people, young and old, came to know and love her. Some of the younger kids who worked at the pool nicknamed her "Foxy Roxy".
Roxanne was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jesse Coalter; one daughter, Leslie Hall Hyde and her husband, Gary Hyde; one grandson, Jason Hyde; one granddaughter, Ashley Wallace and her husband, Robert; great-grandchildren, Peyton Simmons, Coalter Simmons, Conner Hyde, Trey Simmons, Easton Davis, AJ Davis, Prestin Wallace and Maddisin Wallace. She also leaves behind a close member of the family, Jason Simmons, and a special caregiver, JoAnn Holt. A special thank you to Dr. Ron and Lisa Smith.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 5, at Bethany Baptist Church in Gosnell. Visitation was 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with service immediately following at 1 p.m. Bro. Gary Hyde, Roxanne's son-in-law, officiated. The interment was at Elmwood Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be given in memory of Roxanne Coalter to Bethany Baptist Church. Condolences may be offered at carneyfuneralhome.com.
